Marcus Davis - the breakfast klub
April 15, 2006
Shrugging off the standard titles associated with being the guiding force behind one of Houston's favorite eating establishments, Marcus Davis prefers to be known as chief steward of the breakfast klub. "This is a ministry with which we have been entrusted and it's only through God's grace and guidance that we have realized this to be a testament to what He can do." The concept for the restaurant was born after Davis noticed that Houston was in dire need of a place serving unique breakfast meals and a "soulful" atmosphere. He decided upon two dishes from the east and west coasts - Katfish & Grits and Wings & Waffles - as the restaurant's signature dishes. After draining his pockets and the pockets of a man who believed in his dream, he opened the doors of the breakfast klub in September of 2001. Since its opening, the breakfast klub has attracted droves of visitors from around the country and received rave reviews, being recognized as the best breakfast in the city by the Houston Press three consecutive years.

Marcus began his food service training at an early age, after being drafted into his dad's catering business. Afterward, he worked his way through the ranks and eventually into a position with the corporate office of Chick-Fil-A, Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia. A native Houstonian, Marcus is product of the Houston Independent School District and an alumnus of Texas Southern University (Bachelor of Art, Political Science) and Prairie View A&M (Master of Education Administration). He is also a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Davis credits truly keeping God first, and the support of family as the keys to the breakfast klub's success. Not surprisingly, he places a special emphasis on spending quality time with his family - his wife Melvinie, daughter Lundyn Cymone, son Joshua Raymond and the newest member, daughter Bailey Harrell born on April 7th, 2006.
